According to Ayurveda, acne is the result of an elevated pitta, which ultimately results in sprouting to the surface in the form of grains. Acne is an inflammatory skin disorder which can occur on the neck, face and body.
In ayurvedic term, ace is called ‘Yauvan Pidika’ and is related to stomach conditions. Hence, extreme uses of sweet’s oily foods and non-vegetarian diet can intensify the condition.
It can also be caused by emotional stress, premenstrual hormonal changes and exposure to chemicals or excessive sunlight. Ayurveda recommends several natural treatments that, if used at the same time, can control acne effectively.
Ayurveda Remedies – How To Remove Dark Spots Caused By Ace
Remedy No # 1: Mix 1 teaspoon of chickpea flour with the water necessary to make a paste and wash your face with this mixture. It will help to clear dark spots.
Remedy No # 2: Mix almonds powder with a little water and apply the paste on the face. Let it dry and keep it on the skin for half an hour. Next, wash it. You can easily make almonds in powder form at home using a coffee or nut grinder.
Remedy No # 3: The paste of sandalwood powder and turmeric mixed with goat’s milk is very healing for the skin. Take 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric, 1/2 teaspoon of sandalwood powder, mix it and add goat’s milk in it, enough quantity to make a paste. Apply the mixture on the face.
Note: the face will stay yellow for up to 5 days, but this formula is very effective in relieving acne.
Remedy No # 4: The following formula is excellent to appease the excess pitta that causes acne; ingredients such as Kutki, Guduchi and Shatavari are required. Make an equal mixture of these three herbs (you can make it with a teaspoon of each) and take 1/2 teaspoon of the mixture 2 or 3 times a day. Consume this after meals, with warm water.
Remedy No # 5: Applying melon is beneficial, rub a little melon on your skin when you go to sleep and leave it overnight. It has refreshing quality and antipitta properties which will help you to cure acne. It also softens the skin.
Remedy No # 6: Relax the face, rub your hands hard to warm up a face, massage it for a couple of minutes. This will relax the facial muscles and increase the blood supply. This will reduce the acne.
Remedy No # 7: To prepare an infusion with common herbs, use cumin, coriander and fennel. Prepare an infusion of 1/2 teaspoon each of these seeds, boil it in water for 10 minutes and drink it. Take it three times a day. This remedy will help to fight acne from within.
Remedy No # 8: Drink Aloe Vera juice. You can try drinking half a cup of pure Aloe Vera juice twice a day.
Remedy No # 9: Keep the colon clean, it is important to keep the colon clean in order to eliminate toxins from the body. You can do it easily by taking the amalaki herb, between 1/2 and 1 teaspoon a day. Take it before going to bed, with warm water.
- Avoid spicy and fermented foods, salt, fried foods and citrus fruits. Choose less irritating foods, such as rice, porridge and applesauce.
- Perform yoga postures, the yoga asanas recommended for acne are the Lion’s posture and the sequence of postures known as chandra namaskar.
- Practice respiratory exercise, breathing through the left and right nostril for 5 or 10 minutes will help to reduce pitta. (This is called Chandra Bhedi Pranayama and is said to be refreshing, breathing through the left nostril and exhale through right nostril). Cover the right hole of nose with your thumb and breathe normally through the left and repeat in opposite way. If you have it plugged nose, do not force it; Try again later.
- Perform visualization; the main cause of acne is emotional stress. A very effective way to relieve this stress is visualization. Close your eyes and visualize that acne cleanses and disappears; do it as if you were communicating with the skin tissues that are bursting in the form of acne. It really works.
One last suggestion: Avoid looking in the mirror often as can give a bad feeling for having acne.
